Naming OCIPs New Chief and Gift Giving Ceremony
Events, Ceremonies, Rites of Passage, etc. happen like the changing of the seasons, if we do not record that they happened, then they are lost. The naming of a New Chief is the same, if we don’t record it then it just slips away to be forgotten. With the election of Chief Elmer St.Pierre to CAPs National Chief and the Installment of Mona Denomme then OCIP Vice Chief to OCIP Chief is one that must not be forgotten. For the Great Creator and the Peoples has chosen these two great Leaders to lead us in different capacities. So the taking of Photos, giving of gifts, celebrating with each other is now written both in the wind and in our stories. How fitting was it to have this Ceremony on Oct. 17, 2020 in Barrie where so many Great meetings, Events, etc. have happened. It is here that many great OCIP moments were made and recorded.
OCIPS Covid 19 Decisions Making Policy
OCIP, being both a Community Minded and Safety Conscious Indigenous Non-Profit Organization believes that the Healthy, Safety and Wellbeing of Its Members, other Indigenous Peoples and the Community at large is our primary concern. Yes, OCIP has various projects, meetings, events, etc. underway, however, We firstly put the Health and safety above all other concerns. So OCIP will consult all Health, Safety, etc. guidelines to create policies and procedures that keep People safe.
No event will be contemplated without this being done.
